Charles Maxwell replied to the topic How hard is illustration? in the forum General Chat 2 years, 7 months ago
My illustrator friends use a scanner to capture pencil drawings and some sort of stylus to “ink” and colour. As long as you have a scanner and a free copy of GIMP, you’ve got the basics.

Blog: Neil Gaiman, earlier today I received a scholarship for a writing program I applied for. You have inspired me as a writer from the day I was read ‘The Graveyard Book’ in second grade. Thanks to you I now intend to become a comic writer myself, and I just wanted to say a deeply sincere thank you, so very much, for giving me the inspiration to become a writer who might someday be who people compare their own writing to, just like you are today. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
You are so welcome. Do better than we did.

Blog: Hello mr gaiman! I read an ask you did a while ago discussing the hierarchy in the good omens universe. You said that after God the order goes down Gabriel then Uriel and Michael (two archangels). I don’t know much about angels but from what I’ve learnt there are about 6-7 archangels, I would like to know if the other 4 archangels are present in both the book and season 1 canon (originally i was going to ask if we were going to see the other archangels in season 2 but I already know rhe answer to that…wait and see!) This question mainly applies to season 1 and the book. Were they present during events of the book and show but were too caught in their archangel duties to be present for “arziraphale’s” trial? Or did you and Mr Pratchett decided to only include three archangels because they’re the three you choose to use? OR! Did you and Mr Pratchett decide on bringing in the archangels separately in order to expand on the universe and give us more of an understanding of heaven and hell? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
Mostly three Archangels are easier to put on a screen and into a story than seven Archangels. (Why don’t you assume that there are four others out there being a l […]

Blog: I got my friend to watch the Stardust movie with me because it’s an amazing story and we realized that despite the naming conventions of the princes and princess, we don’t know what order Una was born in. One would assume by age that she’s closer to Septimus than the older brothers, but can you confirm where in the birth order she was? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
I don’t know. She was the first-born girl, but beyond that it’s a bit hazy. They have much longer life-spans on the other side of the wall.

Matthew Brown replied to the topic Can I present a fictional story as a true story? in the forum A QnA for aspiring authors 2 years, 7 months ago
Are you able to? Yes, I expect you are.
Should you? Hmmm maybe, I don’t know the story.
Will readers accept this when the truth comes out? I cannot say – it is a risk.
Will retailers cooperate? Who knows?
Is it legal? I have no idea. Check with an expert over the finer points of the Trade Description Act.

I’d thought I just was not looking properly. Other than a few myths from Austrailia all fairy mythology I have found is (mostly) European or started there.
Good luck with your editing. Happy to help with an interesting distraction.
