Matthew Brown edited the blog post A Linux user reacts to Windows 10 yet again in the group Nerdy Reviews: 3 years, 11 months ago
I recently wrote about my first reaction to Windows 10. My review of the OS was far from favourable possibly due to the poor hardware it came on. Since then, I have had the chance to use better hardware and so am […]

Blog:
There are a lot of things I’d like to thank you for. I know some of them aren’t solely your doing, but they’d be sorrier or nonexistent without you, so…thanks for making my life better.

- your doctor who episodes are some of my favorites

- Good Omens was the first book my now-husband ever lent me. We loved watching the show together and had to force ourselves to space it out and not binge it.

- all your tumblr posts, but

- especially the most recent ones with the night sky photos. We live just north of New York City, and I hope to one day see a night sky like that in person. Til then, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate your photos.

Thank you.
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
You are so welcome. I’ve seen some amazing skies in upstate New York. Go north…

Blog:
I just wanted to let you know I work as a ICU nurse working the front lines in the Covid unit and I love your books! They have been the only thing getting me through this pandemic so thank you!
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
Thank you for everything you are doing!

Blog:
Hey Neil, I had a small question. When rereading Season of Mists, I noticed that Remiel refered to Duma and himself as neither the kings nor queens of Hell, but rather angels. Are they nonbinary? And if so, will they be played by nonbinary actors in the Netflix show?
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
Angels in Sandman aren’t human. They aren’t mortal. They aren’t gendered, because they don’t possess things like chromosomes, or DNA or (as we see at one point) […]

Blog: Non-Fiction I Have Read Recently: Part One from A Little Blog of Books in the group Book bloggers 3 years, 11 months ago
In between books from the Young Writer of the Year shortlist, I have been reading a lot of non-fiction during the November lockdown. The Cubans by Anthony DePalma […]

Blog:
Dear Neil,

Our place in this universe is pretty small and sometimes I feel like we are nothing but a speck of dust in the farthest corner of the universe. What do you think our existence means? Do we still have a purpose after knowing how vast the universe is? Honestly does anything really matter if everything is going to crumble away given time? What we as a species have achieved other than fighting each other or killing other species? These questions have been stuck in my mind for a while now. Sorry if this is not making much sense.
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
I’ve been taking lots of photos recently of the night sky here on Skye. Mostly it’s been raining, but every now and again there’s a clear and starry night. These […]

Blog:
What are your opinions on hedgehogs?
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
I think that learning that the Romani word for Hedgehog is Hotchiwichi is still my favourite moment of language. It feels nice in your mouth to say. On the other […]

Blog:
Dear Neil, Probably you have heard about the MIT time travel party where a bunch MIT students threw a big party and advertised it broadly inviting any future time travelers to come. None came so they decided that time travel doesn't exist. However, I think your tumblr feed should probably be thrown into the pool of data to consider. Honestly if I was a time traveller I'd rather visit your tumblr feed than an MIT party too.
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
I’ve been to MIT parties and I find a lot to agree with in your suggestion.

No, The Neil Gaiman is only on Twitter. Here on Tumblr nobody gets to be a The. The best I can hope for here is to be A Neil Gaiman.

Blog:
Good morning mr Gaiman. Are mrs Spink and mrs Forcible lesbians? or just sapphics?
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
You would have to ask them. But be prepared for Miss Spink to glare at you and tell you that their romantic life is none of your business, and for Miss Forcible to […]

Blog:
Dear Neil, for many years (even now), everywhere you look in the internet you are typed as INFP in the myers briggs test, although you tested recently as an INFJ. As an INFP, i was so happy to know that my favourite writer in the whole world is an INFP too and that one day I could be a great writer, just like you… I think many INFP writers feel the same… There was even that desperate hope that maybe you had mistyped yourself and that you are actually an INFP, but alas… back to writing…
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 11 months ago
I took one again, at a friend’s request, about six months ago and (having just done an email search) I can tell you that that time I was INFP. But I wasn’t rea […]

Matthew Brown wrote a new blog post Spam be gone in the group Help and Support: 3 years, 11 months ago
This morning I set to the task of de-spamming Author Buzz. There is always a trickle of deeply suspect junk accounts being registered. However, of late, there have been enough spam accounts that the real users […]

Matthew Brown replied to the topic Lots of spammy looking registrations? in the forum General Chat 3 years, 11 months ago
I’ve revisited the spam issue and was able to cleanly remove (and block) a lot of spam.
I am fairly confident this will not cause problems for legitimate users.

I’ve been running Linux exclusively for many years now. Long enough to forget what a lot of fuss doing things with Windows was. The only legacy of windows in my home is the laptop I use for video editing.
That […]
