Blog: Hi Mr. Gaiman. My daughter Brin is 10, adopted and full of anxiety. I only mention this because of how she reacts to media. Her first introduction to you was through Blueberry Girl and it was magic, a well worn favorite. She tried Coraline 2 years ago and was terrified, convinced the other mother had taken her from her birth mother and would steal me too. Out of the blue, she decided to face her fear this past weekend and we watched it again. She made it through. She decided it still scared her, but that was ok. That she was like Coraline, could be brave even if scared. That maybe mom isn’t so wrong about you and your magic stories. Then we had a good, needed, cry. She is thinking Stardust next. Thank you, I hope you understand all the things I am trying to say. Much love. Brin and her mom, Candyce. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
I’m proud of her, and proud of you for being a good mum. She might like The Wolves in The Walls. It’s gentler and funnier than Coraline.

Blog: Good Omens will be filming in Bathgate? As in West Lothian? I LIVE THERE 😀 Why was Bathgate chosen? I know David’s parents lived there so wonder if that was a factor? I can’t believe you are all going to be in my little town!! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
Bathgate was chosen because it has a great big studio where we could build Soho. Also because it’s not that far from Leith where we are shooting Anansi Boys. ( […]

Blog: Hello Mr. Gaiman. I have two things to say and firstly, I want to thank you for the stories you write. They have provided an escape for me over the years, especially Neverwhere, and I really appreciate that they exist. Secondly, I want to thank you for your support for libraries! I’m a library worker myself, and the library I work at has come under some recent controversy. We support the LGBTQ community, and our small, southern American town didn’t necessarily enjoy our support. We’ve been getting non-stop hate since June, and it’s gotten to the point where I thought about quitting a job I loved. I recently picked up a copy of Art Matters and seeing the kind words you wrote about libraries has made me truly happy. I’m hoping our community sees our importance soon, and things can be a little bit more normal but we’ll see. I know this is a big appreciation post, but I really do appreciate all you do! Thank you. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
You are so welcome. I appreciate what you are doing too. Thank you!

Blog: hi mr. gaiman sir—i’m sure someone’s already asked this before, so i’m sorry if this is repetitive, but what do you do when a whole room of people agree that they don’t like whatever you were writing? i was in a creative writing (screenwriting) workshop, and i was rather proud of the cold open i wrote in the span of an hour—only to have 3/12 people say they would watch the rest. it feels silly, but i suppose it stung because everyone had responded so well to everyone else’s scripts. i know that as a writer, i need to be open to critique, and i’m sure that i’ll run into greater disappointments in the future, but how do you handle that kind of negative reaction? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
My favourite way is to go “I’ll show you all!” and cackle maniacally to the moon, and then write something that they can’t dismiss. Also, an opening is just a […]

Blog: Hello Mr Gaiman. I’ve been working with my theatre group to rewrite a play with our own spin, but we all have such different ideas and storytelling styles, and it’s falling apart very quickly. I’ve always found it difficult to create any sort or art with a partner or team. You’ve co-written at least one book (though I’m sure there’s others), so I suppose I wanted to ask how exactly do you share a creative work without going insane? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
Find someone you mesh with to work with. If you are both going to collaborate you need the same vision of what you’re making.

No, we’re shooting in Scotland, with UK crews represented by UK unions. And we are going to be doing our best to make the shoot a pleasant one for everyone working on it.
