Blog: I don’t know if you’ve answered this or not, but how much control do you retain over your characters and concepts in other media? I just watched the “Dead Patrol” episode of Doom Patrol, loved seeing the Dead Boy Detectives show up there and also heard that HBO Max has ordered a pilot for those characters. If the show is made, how much control, if any, would you have over Rowland and Paine and their adventures? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
I had absolutely no involvement with the Doom Patrol episode. I’ve been sent the script for the pilot Dead Boy Detectives episode for notes (I didn’t have any not […]

Blog: Do you prefer old book smell or new book smell? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago

Blog: hi mr. Gaiman. i’m not really sure what to say here and don’t feel obligated to respond but i’ve been having a rough time in general lately. everything feels like its going down hill and i don’t know what to do to feel better. you definitely have more life experience than me and i was wondering if you’ve ever been in a position like this and if you have any advice. thank you. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
I have been in that position over and over. The only advice I can give is that things get better. And they get worse again. And then they get better again. […]

You don’t. Pick the one that feels the most fun to write.

Blog: Hello Mr. Gaiman. I just wanted to say how much I am enjoying the Sandman audio books. It is such a different experience from the comic and the radio show quality to it really elevates it above a simple audio book. I have been a sandman fan for over 2 decades and it made me look at the series in a totally different way. The sounds and dialogue make you chew on the contents much longer and do not let you gloss over the hard to read parts which really lends a new feeling to the story. I assume you had say in its production and I cannot imagine a better execution in the format. Thank you for a new experience to an old favorite. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
I’m so glad you are enjoying it. I think it’s something special.

Blog: Hello Mr. Gaiman. I have a problem with my novel and I thought you were the best person to give me some advice on it. This is my biggest struggle in the novel and it has little to do anything with the plot, but it still infuriates me. I have two characters who are obviously attracted to each other. However, I want to portray them as friends and still keep the chemistry. How can I stop ruining it? Because when I try, it either ends up as a gooey romance or a lifeless fake friendship. Thank you for your time. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
So much of the fun is in that place that you’re describing, though. I’m old enough to remember shows like CHEERS and MOONLIGHTING, which worked like pleasure mac […]

Blog: Hello Sir. I wanted to ask you. Do you have something to say to the editor or anyone in charge of the translation of your book or is it just picked somewhat “randomly” ? I started to listen to Good Omens, that I first read in English, now in French and the translation is just AMAZING! I loved it so much that I decided to buy Neverwhere and Norse Mythology because it has been translated by the same person. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 1 month ago
I don’t control it or choose my translators. In French I’ve been very lucky to have Patrick Marcel.
