Platform Building: Local photographers

We’ve suggested before that you need to make sure you have a good quality profile photograph. In addition to that, it can be helpful to have additional photographs that the press can use when writing about you.

One way to get some great photographs are local photography clubs. Try contacting one near you and see if they would be interested in a group opportunity to have you pose for them.

You could offer them an opportunity to photograph a writer in their writing space. Or a person in a coffee shop, or other locations.

The point is that the photographers get a volunteer model to pose for them and you get the chance to have some interesting photos to share with fans and the press. They get a unique subject and setting, you get photographs taken on a good camera by people who have a reasonable idea of what they are doing. Trust me, a good camera can make you look far more attractive in an image than a phone or tablet camera can.

Plus you might make a few new friends.
