Blog: Hi Mr. Gaiman. My daughter Brin is 10, adopted and full of anxiety. I only mention this because of how she reacts to media. Her first introduction to you was through Blueberry Girl and it was magic, a well worn favorite. She tried Coraline 2 years ago and was terrified, convinced the other mother had taken her from her birth mother and would steal me too. Out of the blue, she decided to face her fear this past weekend and we watched it again. She made it through. She decided it still scared her, but that was ok. That she was like Coraline, could be brave even if scared. That maybe mom isn’t so wrong about you and your magic stories. Then we had a good, needed, cry. She is thinking Stardust next. Blog: Hello Mr. Gaiman. I have two things to say and firstly, I want to thank you for the stories you write. They have provided an escape for me over the years, especially Neverwhere, and I really appreciate that they exist. Secondly, I want to thank you for your support for libraries! I’m a library worker myself, and the library I work at has come under some recent controversy. We support the LGBTQ community, and our small, southern American town didn’t necessarily enjoy our support. We’ve been getting non-stop hate since June, and it’s gotten to the point where I thought about quitting a job I loved. I recently picked up a copy of Art Matters and seeing the kind words you wrote about libraries has made me truly happy. I’m hoping our community sees our importance soon, and things can be a little bit more normal but we’ll see. I know this is a big appreciation post, but I really do appreciate all you do! Blog: hi mr. gaiman sir—i’m sure someone’s already asked this before, so i’m sorry if this is repetitive, but what do you do when a whole room of people agree that they don’t like whatever you were writing? i was in a creative writing (screenwriting) workshop, and i was rather proud of the cold open i wrote in the span of an hour—only to have 3/12 people say they would watch the rest. it feels silly, but i suppose it stung because everyone had responded so well to everyone else’s scripts. i know that as a writer, i need to be open to critique, and i’m sure that i’ll run into greater disappointments in the future, but how do you handle that kind of negative reaction? from

I’ve always found it difficult to create any sort or art with a partner or team.
