The Struggles of a Newbie Writer

Hey, y’all! My name is Jason, and I’m a new writer who’s still trying to figure things out. I’ve been a member of this community for a little while now, and I’ve learned so much from all of you. But today, I wanted to talk about the struggles that new writers face.

First of all, let’s be real – writing is hard. It’s not just about putting words on a page; it’s about creating characters, building worlds, and crafting a story that people will actually want to read. And as a new writer, all of that can feel overwhelming. Sometimes I sit down to write and I feel like I have no idea what I’m doing.

Another struggle that I’ve faced is finding the time to write. I have a day job and a family, and sometimes it feels like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. I know that I need to make writing a priority if I want to get better, but it can be tough to carve out that time.

And then there’s the fear of rejection. As a new writer, it can be hard to put your work out there and risk being rejected. It’s like putting a little piece of yourself on display and hoping that people will like it. But the truth is, rejection is a part of the process. Not everyone is going to love what you write, and that’s okay.

So, what can we do to overcome these struggles? Here are a few things that have worked for me:

Set achievable goals. Instead of trying to write an entire novel in a week, set a goal to write for 30 minutes a day. That way, you’ll feel accomplished and motivated, and you’ll still be making progress.

Make writing a habit. Try to write at the same time every day, even if it’s just for a few minutes. That way, it becomes a part of your routine, and you’ll be more likely to stick with it.

Embrace feedback. It can be hard to hear criticism of your work, but feedback is essential for growth. Listen to what others have to say, and use it to improve your writing.

Remember why you started. When you’re feeling discouraged, think back to why you started writing in the first place. Maybe you have a story that you’re burning to tell, or maybe you just love the feeling of putting words on a page. Whatever it is, hold onto that passion and let it drive you forward.

So, there you have it – the struggles of a newbie writer. But even though it’s tough, I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Writing is a journey, and I’m excited to see where it takes me. Thanks for reading, and happy writing!
