Has anyone got any advice on using Tumblr?

I’m interested in finding out if Tumblr is good for promoting my blog.

      Thanks.

In my experience, Tumblr is a slow burn. It is itself a blog and the same rules apply. That said, the culture around Tumblr is a bit different.

I strongly suggest creating content that is just for Tumblr and mix it in with reblogs that your readers will love. Overall keep self-promotional content minimal. Share links to your blog at most, I say, 5% of the time. It’s hard to say as each case will be different. When you do share something it should add value to the followers you have without diluting the on-site brand you are building.

That’s pretty much what I suspected.

I’ve got a nice following but I’m not sure what to do with it.

Side note: Tumblr is weak-source for SEO.

        How so?

I’m not saying it don’t work but so much of Tumblr is hidden behind the firewall of login, that you can be working a long time to see any sign of Google rating links from there.

Tumblr is probably good for reaching people just not by SEO.

That’s what I have been using it for. That’s good, right?
