Nope, nope, fine, and do you mean the smoked jalapeno pepper or the fast food chain (if you mean the latter, it’s customary to capitalize the word).

Blog: Hello! Curiosity hit me! What are your thoughts on Clive Barker? Have you met him before? Are there any of his works you enjoy/recommend? Has any of his writings influenced yours? This all just sprouted in my head after a dumb late night thought “what if Clive wrote Coraline and Neil wrote Hellbound Heart?” …..wild.. But mainly I would adore to hear your thoughts on this author/writer! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 6 months ago
I’ve known Clive since 1985! Somewhere there’s an interview I did with him, and there are several essays I wrote from the olden days on Clive and his genius. I’l […]

I suppose I have to ask a question now… the Netflix Sandman adaptation, what is your favorite bit of casting and why? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 6 months ago
Ooh. That’s a hard one. Both Ferdinand Kingsley as Hob Gadling and Stephen Fry as Gilbert somehow embody the character in the comics — it’s as if the person I had […]

Blog: Hello, Mr. Gaiman! I’m a huge fan of your work and I recently wrote an essay based around your book American Gods, which is one of my favorite works of all time. I wrote on the idea that labor and the conceptual perfect America had become, in essence, religion used for labor exploitation, heavily inspired by your philosophy of deification. When I read your book for the first time, I was on a long trip to a Indigenous reservation in Wyoming, and it struck a deep chord in me. This was four years ago, and as I near adulthood, I feel it pertinent to inform you of the massive impact it had on me. It was the first book I had read with adult content, which found jarring, but glad to have found something with more developed themes. One idea in particular got stuck in my head and has remained there for years: the land of America being sacred and ancient. During the worst times of the pandemic, I would go on walks and try to feel the magic of the land, pausing to note every sensory detail I could to catalog the sacred feeling of a fall afternoon or summer evening spent in nature and neighborhoods alike. That idea has become a core feeling of mine, tethering me an unkind country through my adolescence. This book gave me a beautiful perspective on the land I was born and raised in, and I thank you deeply for writing and expressing an ineffability in it. I hope you felt this was not too sappy or overbearing, and my essay did your story justice. Thank you for your time! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 6 months ago
I’m glad. And the idea of the land as being sacred and ancient is one that goes back a long way before me, and I find it comforting too.

Blog: im a huge fan of your work and im super excited for good omens season 2, but i cant help to feel like we might be getting queerbaited with the good omens season 2 posts. i dont think its intentional, seeing as you are a great ally to the lgbtq+ community, but a lot of fandoms have the issue of being hinted at how there will be queer characters and then having little to no representation. i ask now: can we actually expect canon aziraphale x crowley? like, at all? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 6 months ago
