Blog:
Hello! I had a quick question regarding the summoning spell in the first chapter of Sandman. During the spell Roderick Burgess says “Oh my lord.” Is that one of the reasons they got Dream instead of Death? If he had said, “Oh my lady.” Would he have gotten Death or even Despair instead? And by that logic, is Desire eternally safe from spells like that because they’re gender fluid?
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 4 months ago
No, they got Morpheus because he was exhausted beyond all reckoning after the events of Sandman Overture. It was like catching a lion in a mousetrap.

Blog:
Good evening, Mr. Gaiman. How are you today?

Have you ever had to make a difficult choice about killing a character that you love but its death is necessary to the plot? If the answer is yes, can I ask who?

Thank you for your time answering this little question and thank you for your mesmerizing work. I hope you are alright.

Best regards,

Bredzinski.
from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 3 years, 4 months ago
Pretty much everyone in Sandman. I spared Matthew the Raven only because my editor pleaded for his life, pointing out she had just named her son Matthew.

Yes. In my books I’d point to Stardust as one of those stories.

Blog:
I work in a public library. Because I follow you here on Tumblr & you're so nice to everyone I feel guilty every time I have to discard one of your books.
