Blog: Dear Mr Gaiman Apologies for all of these questions! And thank you for answering the last one, it was a lifesaver. And if you’ve already answered this, then don’t worry about it. I’m stuck in the midst of an awful writer’s block right now. I hate everything that I write, feel a bit like a failure and generally feel miserable, tired and depressed and it isn’t just the writing. I have to write a short story for an assessment task and I’m just stuck and ready to cry. So I suppose my question is, how do you work yourself out of a writer’s block, stuck with a deadline that creeps closer with a rather manic (and canine) grin (perhaps holding a candle to Pennywise’s smirk?) and you’re stuck in a dumb rut? Thanks! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
Don’t write it to make yourself happy. Write it to write it. Start writing and head for the end.

Blog: Good morning Neil (it says 6:30 AM in NZ)! My Q is, how does the price of using Queen music on TV compare to say getting the duck resurrection scene animated? Is it like 1 duck = about 3 songs in terms of price equivalency? Take good care from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
I don’t actually know how much the Queen songs cost. I know we were incredibly lucky in that we were given permission and paid for them at the point where e […]

Blog: What made Aziraphale decide to open a bookshop and stick with it for so long, whilst Crowley constantly changes what he’s interested in? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
The same impulse that makes Crowley get new hairstyles wherever feasible and means that Aziraphale’s hair is basically what he wore on the wall.

Blog: Hey, Neil. How’s it going? Now that filming for GO2 is over I want to ask how involved you are with post-production. Do you have a hand in the editing process, a say on VFX, music, etc.? Blog: Hello Neil! This might be a weird question so feel free to ignore it if you want. Some people find it stupid that other people are able to deeply connect with a character and feel sad (sometimes cry) when something happens to them. What is your opinion on that? I think crying at the fate or emotions of people who only exist in our imaginations is a beautiful thing. I watched it happening at every performance of The Ocean […]

Blog: Hello Neil, I don’t know if this question has been asked before, but I would like to know in episode 2 of GO, when Anathema forgets her book in Crowley’s Bentley, there is something tartan in the back seat with the book. What is that ? Aziraphale gets it when he gest the book, is it his ? But what’s that doing in the Bentley ? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
It was a box of shortbread Aziraphale had brought along in case they got peckish.

Blog: Just found out that there’s a campaign afoot to ask the US Postal Service to issue a set of commemorative stamps for Edward Gorey’s 100th birthday in 2025. Apparently it takes a full three years for such requests to go through the approval process. People have to write real letters on actual paper to nominate. I figure your American fanbase would be fertile ground for raising support, so please consider this request for a signal boost. Details on how to participate are found here: https://edwardgorey.org/2022/02/22/edward-gorey-centennial-postage-stamp-campaign/ from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago

Blog: Hi Neil! Hope youre well, congrats on wrapping on season 2! I was just wondering about your perspective on using second person being ‘literary suicide’. Do you think that has any merit? I’ve heard a few people talk about how hard it is to get right and I’m just curious about your pov on this Have a nice day! 🙂 from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 2 years, 7 months ago
You can use it when you need to. You need a reason to do it and to make it work. It’s as hard to pull off as it would be to shoot a movie entirely from the point o […]

We were really lucky, in this time of Covid. We didn’t lose any shooting days to Covid, or any cast, and we got every shot we needed. So much luck.
