Post-Brexit uncertainty threatens UK book market says Penguin

We said at the time that Brexit was a bad deal for authors. Now it seems that we were right.

Penguin are calling on the Government to put in place protections for publishers and authors that have been taken away by Brexit and the ongoing post-Brexit uncertainty.

Government uncertainty over post-Brexit changes to copyright law threatens to make our industry less adventurous. Ultimately, it is readers who will lose out.

If we want publishers to keep taking risks, we must protect our copyright laws, Tom Weldon, CEO of Penguin Random House UK

The Society of Authors, the Publisher’s Association, and the Association of Author’s Agents (among others) are backing the Save Our Books campaign in response to this threat. They are asking people to write to their MP asking them to take action.
