Why does Neil Gaiman appear to post content on Author Buzz?

A question which pops up from time to time is why a certain famous author by the name of Neil Gaiman has his content all over our site. Does he, you may ask, blog for you?

No, Neil Gaiman is awesome but I very much doubt he has time to write content just for Author Buzz. He does, however, answer fan questions on Tumblr. Which is where his fans here on Author Buzz come into the picture.

One of the early groups created was called Fans of Neil Gaiman. It is this (public) group where Neil Gaiman’s Tumblr headlines are pulled in. It is also a forum where fans talk about Neil Gaiman news.

Groups can be used for many things. One of those things you can do with a group is to add external blogs. You can add them when you make the group or later if you happen to be an admin and click “manage”. If you make a group, you are automatically the admin.

All you have to do is past the RSS feed URL into the external blogs field and hit save.

Whenever your group gets a visitor, it will check to see if there are new headlines. If there are, it will quietly update your group with new items – one per post. These entries link back to where they come from. In Neil Gaiman’s case that would be his Tumblr blog.

And that is why the excellent and very busy author, Neil Gaiman, has his content on our site. It is here because fans want it here. Being a fan myself, I am most pleased to see his Q and A posts on the front page.

I am pretty sure that if Mr Gaiman or his agent wanted to come and run the group themselves we could make that happen. It would be lovely but a little unlikely.

Putting headlines on our site is not limited to super famous authors. Any author with a UK connection is welcome to do the same. All you need is a simple free account (there are no paid ones) and the ability to find the “Create a Group” link on the groups’ page.
