Today we took a giant leap forward towards becoming a true social network for writers and readers.
You may notice some substantial changes on the Author Buzz front page. Now the front page features your content, blog posts and status updates alike.
We’ve talked about doing this for some time and today is the day we made it happen. We’ve only gone and redesigned to give more focus to your content.
Now instead of our blog posts, you will see updates from across the site, including your blog posts, forum discussions, and status updates. Our blog has not gone away (you can find it here), Now, however, our posts have to compete on an equal footing with everyone else’s.
If you want to keep getting our updates in your activity feed you can join our group. there you can decide if you want to get emails when we post, weekly digests, or no email at all. After all, you probably know my thoughts on email.
The focus of Author Buzz UK was never about us. Our intention was always to support the UK writing and publishing industry – authors and readers in particular. Now, we can do that by putting your content front and centre.
It doesn’t matter if you import your headlines from elsewhere or publish on our network, your content will show up just the same.
Are you sure you want to do that. As a contributor, you know I update the distraction blog three to seven times daily.
That was something I checked during testing. To be honest seven updates a day is not all that much given how much activity can take place on site some days. If it becomes a problem I figure out a way to balance things somehow.
Have you thought any further about the change of layout I suggested?
Your feedback Danny has helped me no end. I value your input most highly. While not able to do much I have been thinking about your ideas at some great length. It is amazing how much thinking one can get done while unable to get up or do anything. I have several ideas that as my health improves, I will give a go. I’m sure you will have some wise insights for me once I get that far.
