New postcard from my dreamscape

Postcards from my dream realms
August 16, 2025 in reflections-and-thoughts by Matthew Brown
I’ve been playing with the idea of dream postcards – fragments of my realm of dreams and imagination shared as glimpses into the rich and often complex inner world that is me. I’m still working on the name – I feel it has to be just right to work.
I love the concept of this idea, although I have yet to figure out the practical application of it as art.
I’ll get back to you when the idea is a little more fully formed.
Until then, leave your thoughts in my comments…
I’m standing for election
April 7, 2025 in news-and-updates by Matthew Brown
I am officially the Liberal Democrat candidate for Margate in the Kent County Council elections. Posts where I might talk about politics or the election, or anything tangentially related to that will have the following required notice.

Stand by for news
March 24, 2025 in news-and-updates by Matthew Brown
I shall shortly be announcing some news. This news will be political in nature and may restrict what I can post for a few months. I’ll still be doing my admin stuff on Author Buzz and elsewhere. I just might not post as much.
Don’t worry, this is good news.
There are two of me?
March 20, 2025 in media by Matthew Brown
I was casually asking ChatGPT what it knew about me when it told me I’d been on trial for money laundering. I don’t remember that time tine because it turns out there is another Matthew Brown who lives in the area.
The scary part was how ChatGPT pulled together my profiles from LinkedIN, YouTube, Instagram, Thanet Creative, and What Do They Know and strung them together with nothing more than my name (Matthew Brown) and county of origin (Kent). That, and it told me I was not a money launderer according to the law.
ChatGPT knew about Author Buzz and described my sense of humour as dry and sarcastic. It is not wrong but that was uncomfortable. Are we approaching the uncanny valley of AI?
AI “art”
I asked ChatGPT for an image of two of me. It claimed to have no reference photos and invited a prompt to make “an artistic representation”. I’m not sure if I believe it about not being able to find a photo of me. It knew enough to give the “me” a beard but that could be a coincidence.
Either way, enjoy this “artistic representation”. Feel free to play a game of what’s wrong with this image (there’s so much).

What do I want? Answering that question is the key to targetting your life on what you want out of it. We call that success.
One of the questions we raised on Author Buzz recently was “who is going to miss you […]

Let’s talk about poverty. Poverty a big problem with complex causes and something we should not shy away from as writers.
Recently, I started a conversation on Thanet Star on the subject of poverty. This was […]

I am often by myself. As a writer, this is probably just the way I like things. That is until I ran smack into the one time that I felt alone.
I usually enjoy a space devoid of other people; that’s how work […]

Lost? Not at all. You loved the orig-trig (Original Trilogy) but were indifferent to the prequels.

Ok, the Star Wars machine are messing with the timeline again. I hope this film does well but I’m not sure I’ll watch it, I saw very little of the middle three (?) films which became the first three, but loved […]
