Blog: With dearest sincerity, hello! I have searched throughout your blog but I don’t think this question has been asked yet. If I’m wrong, please forgive me. Many writers sort themselves into one of two groups, either a “pantser” (someone who sits down and writes whatever comes to mind), or a “plotter” (plots the story out and relies on planning). Which one do you see yourself as? Can’t wait for Good Omens season 2 🙂 Thanks once again! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
I know a lot of plotters. I tend to be the other kind of writer, the kind George RR Martin describes as gardeners. You plant things and then as they grow you […]

Blog: How do you deal with the agony? With the ever present knowing that something terrible is just around the corner? How do you enjoy the good when you can’t deny the reality of the bad? What do you do with all the suffering? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
Try, as best I can, to live in the moment and enjoy the now.

Blog: Neil— I need to know, how much fun did you have writing the characters Maggie and Nina? I barely know them and I love them. You also mentioned you casted the actress’s before they knew they would be a part of season 2? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
I did. I’d loved working with them in Season 1 and was sad that they’d had such a small part. I started wondering about the characters they would play if I rec […]

Blog: Dear Mr. Gaiman, I’m writing to you on behalf of my project course at school. Our project is to create an audio drama from a short story or novel and our course would like to record ‘Coraline’ (supervised by our English teacher). In order to adapt the novel to the English learners’ level of year 7 we will have to simplify words and expressions or leave out some scenes. However, we will be careful to stay true to the story. We would like to ask for your permission to publish the finished result on our school website (https://kronberg-gymnasium.de/). If you deny the permission, we’d like to go froth with the project, but the recording will be for private use only. Thank you in advance, Merle Schönfelder, Student of the Kronberg-Gymnasium Aschaffenburg, Germany from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
I don’t believe I can give you the rights to publicly publish the result on the school website, because other people have already bought and control the German a […]

Blog: hi mr. gaiman!! i was just wondering because i’m curious and don’t know, what is muriels identity and pronouns? for some reason i get the feeling that they’re non-binary and use they/them but i figured i’d ask anyway just to be sure and to know what to use properly. if this has already been asked and answered then i apologize, and if it’s up for surprise then i cant wait!! super excited for season 2, as i’m sure you are too. hope you have a good day (or night) :] from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
John Finnemore and I used they/them in the script, partly because we had no idea of the gender of the actor who would be playing the part of Muriel. Beyond that, […]
