Blog: Hello Mr Gaiman. Perhaps you have already been asked, but you said that you learned a lot about the first season of Good Omens, and does that mean that you learned about Aziraphale’s personality? I mean, will he have more development in season two? Greetings from Argentina. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
I think only you can be the judge of that. Once you’ve seen it let me know what you think.

Blog: Hi Neil. A while back, you came to Tulsa, Oklahoma and gave a talk and a reading and discussed an author who I believe was from around here who had greatly influenced you, whose work is now out of print I believe. I’ve unfortunately forgotten his name. I’m now an archivist student in Tulsa and interested in seeing if I could make some of his work a “holy grail” of my personal old book collection, because your description of his writing was magical. Do you mind telling me his name? (The most recent addition to my collection was a beautiful 1893 edition of Vanity Fair! It’s my oldest book so far.) from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago

Blog: Hey Mr Gaiman, I think it would be very kind of you to bring me a dream. If you do, please make him the cutest that I’ve ever seen with two lips like roses and clover then tell him that his lonesome nights are over. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
Ah. You are probably so alone, ain’t got nobody to call your own. I’ll suggest he turns on his magic beam.

Blog: Ciao Neil! You have again a verified badge on twitter (because you have more than 1 million followers).. I read that if you change your name, it will disappear! Anyway, is there any italian words in the script of good omens 2? Have a nice day! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
They really have no idea what they are doing over there, do they? And by “they” I suppose I must mean “he”. And wait and see.

Blog: Hello, Neil! I don’t know if you’re ever going to answer this because of the many messages on your inbox, but it’s worth trying. I really like to write, but there’s a problem that seems to be repeating itself everytime I have a new idea: i always make up great characters with depth and development arc, I know everything about their dynamic with others, their relationship arcs, the things they struggle, and all these internal things. However, i can’t seem to be able to come up with the actual plot of the story to set them in. How can I deal with that? Thanks! from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
Have a character that you care about want something that won’t be easy to get. Have another character you care about want something else that’s mutually exc […]

Blog: I was just reading the speech you recently posted a link to and came across this sentence: “…wanting to write like Tolkien would have been, for me, like wanting to blossom like a cherry tree or climb a tree like a squirrel or rain like a thunderstorm.” Can you say more about this? To me this would seem like the ideal way to write at least about nature, to capture the beauty & music of nature in words. And I think you do in places. Interested in hearing why that did not appeal to you? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
Because it’s not something you can learn how to do, it’s something that you are.

There’s a story called “Tastings” in Smoke and Mirrors, and a few bits of American Gods, but that’s all I can think of so far.

Blog: hey! i’ve been thinking about sandman a lot! i just rewatched the show last week and it’s still so good! i first read the comics because my dad is a massive fan and i wanted to bond with him! i fell in love with the story and became obsessed with it for a while! i’m particularly fond of death!! anyway, what i wanted to say is that i reached out to my dad after the show came out (we have a terrible relationship and i try to keep to easy subjects) just because i wanted a reason to talk to him, i was so excited because i loved the show. he told me that he hated it because, and i quote “death is black and lucifer is a woman”. it made me appreciate how much i grew apart from what he taught me and how stories are meant to evolve and adapt to the times. from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
I feel so sorry for your dad. Imagine being cut off from something you once loved by the skin colour of an actor and the gender of another. He sounds so fragile. […]

Blog: Perhaps you’ve seen the viral post going around which reports the writer dreaming Sir Terry saying, “Doctor Who is Greek drama from the point of view of the deus-ex-machina.” Does that strike you as something Sir Terry would actually say as much as it strikes me so? Is it to your knowledge, perhaps, something Sir Terry actually said once? from Neil Gaiman in the group Fans of Neil Gaiman 1 year, 5 months ago
No, I haven’t seen it. While I can think of things that it’s slightly less likely that Terry might have said, I can’t think of a lot of them. Mostly what he said […]
