Bigger files and more of them

We’ve doubled the file storage limit and increased the maximum files size.

As Author Buzz settles into its new home, we’ve been able to expand just how much we offer you. As part of that, we have doubled the total file storage available to blogs for images and other media. We have also increased the file size by 25%.

Bigger files

The leading reason for limiting file size is to prevent overly large images from slowing your blog down. However, we are now on a faster architecture and so we have relaxed the limits a little.

To be honest, the previous limit was still large enough for an image file that would fill most screens. So this new limit is unlikely to be ground breaking. It simply means that any sensibly sized image of any resolution should be usable without compromise. Also, with the much bigger storage space, there is more room for lots of bigger files.

More of them

When we first started we offered our blogs with just 200 MB of space. We doubled that to 400 MB when it was clear that some users needed more space and that we could safely offer that.

Now we have doubled that again to 800 MB for your media.

This is an issue we shall probably revisit again. Once we see how well the new increased limits work out, we would like to increase them further.
