2017 H. G. Wells shortlist announced


The 2017 H. G. Wells Short Story Competition shortlist has been announced.

The Short Story Competition shortlists were posted Thursday 21 September, H. G. Wells’ Birthday.

There are two prizes on offer.

  1. The Junior Competition with the Margaret and Reg Turnill Prize of £1000
  2. The Senior Competition with The Grand Prize of £250

The H. G. Wells Short Story Competition Awards ceremony will be held on Sunday 19 November at The Grand, Folkestone.

H. G. Wells, as you might know, is now famously remembered for his science fiction novels (among other things) and is called a “father of science fiction”, along with Jules Verne and Hugo Gernsback. He was the author of such books as The Time Machine (1895), The Island of Doctor Moreau (1896), The Invisible Man (1897), and The War of the Worlds (1898).
